Ron Pernick, managing director, oversees the development and production of Clean Edge's thematic stock indexes tracking clean energy, transportation, water, and the grid. Financial products tracking the firm's energy-transition and sustainable-infrastructure indexes exceed $4 billion in assets under management (as of February 2021). Ron is also the co-author of two books on clean-tech business and innovation, Clean Tech Nation (HarperCollins, 2012) and The Clean Tech Revolution (HarperCollins, 2007).

Ron co-authored the first report to identify the business and financial opportunities of clean technology (Clean Tech: Profits & Potential, 2001) and has since helped to popularize the term and advance the sector. He has taught MBA-level courses at Portland State University and New College and is a regular speaker at industry events in the U.S. and abroad. Prior to Clean Edge, Ron worked in the high-tech and telecommunications sectors, including with such early internet pioneers as Global Network Navigator, Internet In A Box, Preview Travel, and the WELL. He holds a BA from Michigan State University, including a year of international studies at Konan University in Kobe, Japan.

Drew Haluska, senior analyst, assists Clean Edge on indexing strategies and contributes to research on public companies. Drew has more than fifteen years of experience in investment research roles with a focus on thematic, indexed strategies employing factor-based research and management techniques. In his role as Director, Portfolio Management at FFI Advisors, current investment research includes the global energy transition and sectoral strategies emerging from the challenges and opportunities inherent in combating climate change. In addition to being a CFA Charterholder, Drew holds an MBA from Yale University, MA degrees from Middlebury College and from New York University, and a BA from Southern Methodist University.

Clint Wilder, senior editor, joined Clean Edge in 2002 and plays a key role in the editorial production of the firm’s research reports and online publications. He has co-authored two books with managing director Ron Pernick, Clean Tech Nation (HarperCollins, 2012) and The Clean Tech Revolution (HarperCollins, 2007). Clint has covered the high-tech and clean-tech industries as a business journalist for nearly three decades. A recognized expert on current trends in clean-energy technology, policy, and finance, Clint is a frequent speaker and panelist at industry events in the U.S. and overseas. Clint graduated from Yale University with a BA in History and did graduate work in Business Journalism at Boston University.

Thomas Hall, analyst, conducts research on publicly traded clean-tech companies, supporting the research of both existing and emerging Clean Edge thematic stock indexes. In addition to his role at Clean Edge, he serves as the executive director of CleanStart (a Northern California focused clean-tech accelerator), as well as an advisor to the Sacramento EV Association and board treasurer of Sacramento Valley Spark. Thomas has a BS in Finance and a BA in Economics from California State University, Chico.

Sabrina Gonzales, marketing strategist, manages branding, communications, and digital marketing projects for Clean Edge. Sabrina has more than a decade of experience with global brands in the technology, consumer packaged goods, and hospitality industries. She holds an MBA from the University of Notre Dame and a BS from Florida State University.

Kelly Perso, brand & graphic design director, has guided the design and development of Clean Edge visuals since 2010. With 15 years of experience in both graphic design and marketing, Kelly has a strong understanding for research, analysis, and storytelling, and how to apply such information to designs that enhance the brand. Throughout her career, she has worked on a variety of project types from major publications and brand design to environmental graphics and responsive web design, with a focus in the clean energy and architecture/engineering/construction (AEC) industries. Kelly graduated from Ball State University with a BFA in Graphic Design with an emphasis on Photography, and a minor in Marketing.

Anne Wrobetz, research analyst, contributes to Clean Edge reports and monthly Data Dive charts and tables. Anne has more than a decade of experience in clean-tech research and engineering consulting. During her career, she has worked on projects ranging from renewable energy to water treatment infrastructure. She holds an MS in Civil Engineering and currently teaches for the University of Colorado Engineering Management Program with an emphasis on sustainable enterprises.

Alan Caplan, advisor, joined Clean Edge in 2001 and advises the company on business and strategic matters. Alan is a multi-faceted business leader who thrives at the nexus of new technologies, emerging markets, and rapidly scaling businesses. He has led functional and project teams at organizations ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies, in industries including cellular communications, online commerce, private spaceflight, and philanthropic technology. Alan holds a BBA in Finance from the University of Michigan and a JD from the University of Chicago Law School.
