SELECT CLIENTS
Clean Edge works with a range of clients from companies and investment organizations to non-profits and governmental groups. Below is a sampling of client projects:
California Energy Commission The California Energy Commission selected Clean Edge to work with Nexant and Econergy to develop an international energy project financing network to assist California companies seeking to develop energy efficiency and clean energy projects in China, Thailand, Mexico, and South Korea.
Connecticut Clean Energy Fund Working with Pinchot & Co., Clean Edge helped the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund uncover clean energy investment opportunities that matched the fund's specific investment criteria. Connecticut Clean Energy Fund is a $100 million state fund supported by a small toll on the utility grid. The fund's mandate is to invest in clean energy companies or projects that benefit the ratepayers of Connecticut. Clean Edge researched potential investments for the fund and developed a report showcasing high-level investment opportunities in both clean-energy companies and projects.
Environmental Entrepreneurs (E2) Venture Endowment Clean Edge was hired by E2 to conduct investment industry research and prepare a report and directory on existing and emerging clean-energy venture funds. E2 operates the E2 Venture Endowment, a unique venture philanthropy vehicle to help fund the work of Natural Resources Defense Counsel (NRDC). Clean Edge prepared a comprehensive report on venture funds operating in the clean energy space, and made introductions to appropriate investment opportunities.
Miasolé
Miasolé is an early-stage technology company boasting a disruptive, proprietary technology for making solar photovoltaic cells faster, cheaper, more efficiently, and with fewer toxic materials. Clean Edge helped the company develop its business plan and presentation materials, and prepared its executives for meetings with investors and to present at investor forums, then made introductions to dozens of angel and venture investors. In 2004 Miasolé secured a $5.4 Million financing from VantagePoint Venture Partners and in 2005 the company received $16 Million from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers.
nwcurrent.com
Clean Edge and Celilo Group Media were awarded a 3-year grant to help co-produce a web conferencing service and website, nwcurrent.com, focused on energy efficiency, renewable energy, and smart energy in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and Montana. Clean Edge came up with content and marketing strategies in addition to conducting the overall outreach effort. Clean Edge remains an adviser to the project.
Sharp
Clean Edge was retained by Sharp's Solar Energy Solutions Group (SESG) to help with a range of strategic initiatives. Clean Edge has conducted market research and performed extensive analysis on behalf of this client, the leading solar module sales and marketing organization in the US. The parent company, Sharp, is the leading global diversified manufacturer of solar modules.
Solaicx Clean Edge helped Solaicx fine-tune the company's business strategy, develop a high-impact business plan, and make introductions to strategic partners and funders. The company is developing a production process that could reduce silicon manufacturing costs by more than 70 percent over traditional poly-crystalline PV manufacturing processes -- making a competitive, non-subsidized solar market a real possibility.
Solaria
Clean Edge has worked with Solaria, a leading producer of low-concentration solar PV technology, in a number of capacities since 2003. Clean Edge conducted market research and analysis for the company including assistance with its positioning and other strategic initiatives. Solaria recently closed on a $22 million financing from a range of investors including NGEN Partners, Sigma Partners, Q-Cells AG, and Moser Baer.
Solar Catalyst Group The Solar Catalyst Group tapped Clean Edge to help them develop a consortium of business, investors, policy makers and others interested in bringing solar PV power to scale by dramatically increasing production and demand in lock-step. As part of its activities, Clean Edge produced the group's web site and is currently conducting wide-ranging research projects, writing numerous reports, and convening working sessions.
